3. A slowed brain: Carbohydrates are the fuel that your brain and nervous system crave. They can work at the fastest speeds with an ample carbohydrate supply. And if you increase protein intake while decreasing carbohydrate intake, your mental performance will suffer.

4. A decrease in mental outlook: Serotonin is the chemical in your brain that gives life its color. And carbs have a direct effect on levels of serotonin. So if you simply eliminate carbs from your diet, you can expect to see some nasty side effects here.

5. Loss of muscle definition: Without carbs your muscles will dump a large amount of their stored water. This in turn will make them look flaccid and loose. You see, for every gram of carbohydrate that gets shuffled into your muscles, three grams of water follow.

6. Compromised bone health: You see, with excessive protein intakes your body will secrete excessive amounts of calcium. Now you could have a calcium chew to offset this side effect. However, it’s probably best to not put yourself in this position to begin with.

Eventually, we are starting to get the insight of how essential workout is for us because the older we get the quicker our habits change. We find ourselves gaining some pounds which makes it tough for us to keep up with younger children or even grandchildren,

At present, an elliptical trainer is my workout of choice as it is a great cardio workout that does not put any pressure on my joints.

An elliptical trainer can be compared to a treadmill in that it works similar areas; however, unlike pounding the treadmill, no pressure is put on the knees and ankles.

The workout you get from an elliptical is remarkable, as you are not only getting the cardio benefits but you are also burning calories, toning up your thighs, legs as well as the butt in the process. Since you use little energy, you obtain these benefits without thumping a hard surface.

An elliptical trainer can be available in a gym but you can obtain one in your house as it costs a lot less that any other exercise machine. They are programmed with a variety of settings that you can choose from when you feel that you require pushing yourself as you get physically fit.

Although people may not have set the machine at the correct level or use it in a proper way, and the benefits that they should be getting are not achieved, one thing is certain, that the elliptical is so easy to use.
